The first learning trip to Seville took place from 9th to 15th April, 2018. The main topic was ancient Roman age. These are the visits and activities the students and teachers did.
Ready to receive our guests
Everything was prepared to receive the Italian guests in IES Punta del Verde. There was even a poster of the project to welcome them to the school.
Reception at the airport
The teachers went to receive them at the airport with the families to welcome them to Seville
Visit to the city centre
After breakfast teachers and students went to the city centre to visit the City Hall and the main monuments: The cathedral and its bell tower, the Giralda.
Welcome to the school
The headmaster welcomed them to the school and the city on Tuesday 10th April. Then there was a breakfast made by the parents.
Visit to the Antiquarium
In the afternoon they went to visit the Antiquarium, where they could see remains of Roman and Mozarabic houses. Some students did presentations in this museum.
The weather wasn't good and the rain stopped them from going up to "las Setas" to see the views.
Dramatized visit to Carmona
On Wednesday 11th April they went to visit the beautiful town of Carmona and its Necropolis where they enjoyed a dramatized activity which represented a typical Roman burial and a battle in the Alcazaba.
Performance of Miles Gloriosus
In the afternoon teachers and students of 1st ESO IES Punta del Verde and ICS Montezemolo went to Bellavista civic centre to watch the rehearsal performance of the play "Miles gloriosus" or "The Braggart Soldier" by Plautus. It was a success!
Visit to Baelo Claudia (Bolonia)
On Thursday they went to Baelo Claudia, an ancient Roman city which today has only remains. It's a beautiful place beside the sea with a wonderful sand beach. they visited the museum and the ruins and made presentations
Friday morning working
Because of the weather, they couldn't go to the park and archeological museum, as it was planned, so they stayed at school and worked in their presentations and drawings and the students from high secondary had their cultural contest. Despite the weather they had a great time.
Visit to Italica
At half past one they went to have lunch all together in a farewell lunch and in the afternoon they went to Italica where they did more presentations. This was the last project activity.
Knowing the Feria
As the Feria started on Saturday night, some of our students went to know it with the families. It is one of the most important celebrations in Seville together with the Holy Week and a fantastic opportunity to have a cultural exchange. It was also a wonderful farewell for our visitors.

At the airport, our language assistant, Ben Folkmann, gave the prizes to the winners of the cultural contest: Elisa Ferrari, Sofia Manzoni and Elena Pelos
The Farewell
On Sunday evening the Italian students and teachers took their flight to Rome. We went to tell them good bye. It was so nice to have you here sharing a little of our culture and our daily life. Have a nice trip back home!
